Paradoxplace Portraits

English King Richard II

(1367 - 1377 - 1399 - 1400 (33))

Son of the Black Prince, Grandson of Edward III

Richard II was the first English King to commission a lifelike portrait of himself.  You will find the bigger than life sized image in Westminster Abbey, hanging on a column and facing the "exit" (west door) - as a consequence of which many visitors do no see it , and there is no explanatory material to indicate why it is interesting.
