Back in the early Middle Ages Florence's Abbey owned the lot ..... much later it became the parish church of Beatrice Portinari, love of Dante's life. He includes a description of her in Commedia. In 1373 Boccaccio delivered lectures and readings on the Divine Comedy here. The beautiful tower emerged from a major rebuild in the mid 2010s. |
