The Palazzo Reale at Caserta is one of the three "super palaces" of Western Europe (along with Versailles and the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna). It was built for Charles of Bourbon, and completed in 1774. The State Rooms have recently emerged from extensive restorations, and the result is truly awe-inspiring. |
