Weatherwise, a drab rainy day in Alba (left). And worse in the dramatically beautiful but today almost invisible Langhe hills, which are covered with the Nebbiolo and Moscato vines of the Barolo and Barbaresco winemakers, producers of some of the best wines in the world.
What to do? Non e probleme, just find a nice Michelin endorsed country ristorante and settle down for a long degustazione lunch (and buy a book for the vineyard photos - none better that the superb offering in English from the Slow Food group (above left) - their headquarters is in nearby Bra).
The Ristorante Al Vecchio Tre Stelle, which is on the way from Alba to Barbaresco, was a perfect solution to Dom P's challenge, and Claudia the perfect guide .....
