The huge Abbey Church of St-Remi is about half an hour's unmemorable walk from Reims Cathedral, and thus never visited (in fact it's not difficult to drive there and there is plenty of parking). It has a magnificent Romanesque nave space, and the adjoining monastic buildings house one of the best regional museums in France.

The west facade is packed with narrative lancet windows surmounted by a rose. The glass is of necessity of more recent origin because of the terrible 1900s damage suffered by the abbey church, but the king on the right in a nave window caught our eye - he could well be a pretty medieval survivor.
