7 May 1945 - the end of WWII in Europe - General Jodl surrenders to the Allied Forces at 2.41 am in General Eisenhower's headquarters just across the rail tracks from our hotel in Reims. Poetic justice of a sort for a town that was almost wiped out by German artillery fire in WW I.
