The little Hospitaller Chapel of Saint Basil (north of Dorchester, Dorset) is in a field at the back of an attractive old farm / manor house, whose father or grandfather was a Knight Hospitaller monastery. The Hospitaller buildings are long since gone, and the chapel itself is a Victorian replacement job - but the reason we navigated the muddy farm track to get there was the font. Dating from who knows when but certainly before the Hospitallers and Normans were around, and meaning who knows what ?
